Mabua Pebble Beach

Mabua Pebble Beach is the home to the infamous multi-sized pebbles, fresh squids, and delicious ground-rice cakes or bibingka.

Just about a 30 minutes drive westward from the downtown, this pebble beach is the local's favorite place to unwind and is frequented during weekends and holidays by avid picnic-goers.

You can see them seating on the rocks under the shades of the scenic coconut trees located at the mountain top which has the coolest vista...

..grouped on the other edge of the beach bordered by rock formations,

..or simply settled above the huge rocks along the shoreline.

While some groups prefer to be secluded from the crowd and have their moment cherished among them, others want the experience lively with the presence of many beach goers plunging and splashing in the water.

..Others wanted their piece of solitude, too.

But no matter how everyone performs their drama, Mabua Pebble Beach surely is a place for bonding and chilling.

And a perfect site for a dramatic sight of sunset too. Mabua Pebble Beach is the paradise of photographers who are captivated by sunsets.

The shore is laid with cottages made of indigenous materials. But if one prefers a more private space, well equipped accommodations and facilities are readily available with the presence of the Mt. Bagarabon Mountain Resort with its Hajahay Suites located closer and facing the shore.

I did mention about the rice cakes, but sticky rice cones are also available in the nearby.

P.S.: Photos are taken on the afternoon, perfect time to experience the beauty of sundown.

Beautiful pebble beach. Haven't been to Surigao, but it looks like I'll be touring a lot of Mindanao in the next coming months :D

Ive been here, yey! Ikaw na gyud ang box office jep. hehe

the spool artist said...

ang galing naman dahil pebbles siya... and its the kind of pebbles they usually use for landscaping gardens! di kaya mauubos yan eventually?

Anonymous said...

hmmm, kakaintriga yang sticky rice cakes na yan ha! ;-)

The Islander said...

@ever.. haha talagang pinagtripan mo yung design ha. sariling rest house mo yata ico-construct mo eh.

@innernet prophet.. hindi po. isang hamak na point and shoot user lang ako. salamat sa pagbisita, at yeah exlink for sure. my pleasure. pr3 ba naman. hehe.

@maam soy.. i was even surprised with my latest visit in mabua. the bagarabon suites blocked the edge portion of the beach. but the rocky mountain part is still accessible. pero im still disheartened with the blocking.

and one more resort is constructing their site across the street, beside the bagarabon main bldg.

hope it wont privatize all of mabua someday that the locals will have to pay for the entrance.

The Islander said...

@alex.. syet datkom na rin. haha. kumikitang kabuhayan na ba? ayos! okies, link will be modified in a short while after quoting replies here.

@sir ferdz.. dont fail to visit surigao. youll enjoy and love it.

@jay.. box office ka jan. hehe. kaw ang box office kay more on movie reviews.

The Islander said...

@spool artist.. yes, the landscaping material type of pebble. dunno if its alarming na but i still heard of some people quarrying these pebbles in small scale. other beach goers does the same too. but still they seem to be non-vanishing.

@caryn.. maam its delicious. guaranteed! im the living witness. hehe

I have been here... talagang pebbles lahat.. hirap maglakad. Ang ganda ng pagkakuha mo.

Great blog! Looking forward to visiting this beach when I visit Surigao del Norte in December. How do I get to this beach? By tricycle?

Thanks,

Are there resorts cheaper than Mt. Bagarabon? We will definitely visit this site next week on or Surigao visit.
